Harald Graber

Harald holds an MBA and has more than 20 years of experience in the optical communications industry within Tier 1 companies in the United States, Europe and Asia. Prior to EFFECT Photonics, Harald served in various senior roles in Sales, Marketing, Product Management & R&D at BWI, Coriant, Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel-Lucent and Lucent Technologies.

Fady Masoud

Senior Director for Solutions Marketing, Infinera

Fady Masoud is a Senior Director for Solutions Marketing at Infinera focusing on next-generation Intelligent Coherent Pluggable optics (ICE-X) and cloud /data center interconnect solutions. His area of expertise is the architecture and requirements of next-generation optical networking infrastructure. During his 27 years in the telecommunications industry, Fady has held various positions in the optical networking domain at Nortel, Ciena, and now Infinera. He started as a hardware test engineer on the first OC-192 (10 Gb/s) systems and then was a systems and network engineer on metropolitan optical products, all combined with hands-on experience. Fady holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Laval University (Quebec City, Canada) and a master’s degree in systems technology (software simulation of optical networks) from the Superior School of Technology (Montreal, Canada). He has written numerous industry and technical publications (incl IEEE), including a book, on next-generation optical networking, cloud networking, and data center interconnect, as well as on many other key topics.

Helen Xenos

Senior Director, Portfolio Marketing, Ciena

Helen Xenos is Senior Director of Portfolio Marketing at Ciena. She is responsible for introducing Ciena’s converged packet optical solutions and technologies to market, including Ciena’s industry leading WaveLogic high-capacity coherent optical solutions. She is a frequent blogger and speaker and enjoys rendering technical speak into the exciting implications it means for network providers.

With >25 years in the telecommunications industry, Helen has held a variety of positions that have included product management for the optical and packet optical portfolio, customer program management, systems engineering and manufacturing test engineering. Helen joined Ciena from the Nortel Networks' Metro Ethernet Networks (MEN) acquisition.

Sterling Perrin

Senior Principal Analyst, Optical Networks & Transport, Heavy Reading

Sterling has more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications as an industry analyst and journalist. His coverage area at Heavy Reading is optical networking, including packet-optical transport and 5G transport. Sterling joined Heavy Reading after five years at IDC, where he served as lead optical networks analyst, responsible for the firm’s optical networking subscription research and custom consulting activities. Prior to IDC, Sterling worked for Standard & Poor’s, where he delivered global industry analysis on a range of IT segments. He is a former journalist and editor at Telecommunications Magazine. In addition to chairing and moderating many Light Reading events, Sterling is an NGON & DCI World Advisory Board member and past member of OFC’s N5 Market Watch Committee.
