KeyEye Hires VP

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- KeyEye Communications, Inc., a leader in 10 gigabit-per-second (10 Gbps) copper-media transceivers, today announced the appointment of Dr. Alan Kwentus as vice president of digital signal processing (DSP) technology development, reporting to Harvey Scull, president and CEO. In this newly created position, Kwentus will lead KeyEye's DSP development team, which is responsible for developing digital systems that serve as critical components in KeyEye's family of 10 Gbps copper-media transceivers.

"Alan's outstanding track record of developing leading DSP-intensive systems is a highly valuable asset as KeyEye develops future generations of multi-gigabit transceivers," said Harvey Scull. "The addition of Alan to the KeyEye product development team both expands and enhances our engineering capabilities."

He was most recently a senior engineering manager at Broadcom Corporation in Irvine, CA. Alan helped build the Broadcom VLSI group from approximately 15 engineers up to 100 engineers. He was responsible for most of Broadcom's single-chip satellite TV products and led the development of all of Broadcom's satellite physical layer technologies. Alan also managed the development of ICs for cable modems and satellite modems.

He began his engineering career at TRW, where he designed ASICs; worked on a variety of research projects related to high-speed circuits for DSP and communication systems; and developed circuit boards for optical networks and image processing systems. Kwentus holds a BSEE from the California Institute of Technology, and an MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
