TEL AVIV -- TDM over IP (TDMoIP®) technology, developed andintroduced to the market by RAD Data Communications in 1999 and implemented in it’s IPmux™ series of TDMoIP gateways and Vmux™ series of voice trunking gateways, has been incorporated into the ITU’s recently adopted recommendation Y.1413 for carrying TDM services over MPLS networks.

Y.1413 is one of the ITU’s Y.14xx series of recommendations that covers multiservice internetworking. The recommendation specifies TDMoIP as one of three standardized modes for supporting TDM over MPLS.

RAD is an active participant in ITU-T Study Group 13, which is also formulating a recommendation for transporting voice services over MPLS. This recommendation will enable the efficient transport of variable bit rate voice (optionally compressed), rather than constant bit rate TDM.
