TEL AVIV -- Infogate Online Ltd., a leader in software solutions for IPTV, video on demand and games on demand over broadband networks announced today the availability of new content download capabilities for its OnDema™ IPTV and VOD middleware platform. Infogate has introduced new content download features that include Progressive Download as well as full content download which complement OnDema’s streaming. These new download features are a significant breakthrough that enable broadband service operators to improve bandwidth utilization for VOD services.

With Progressive Download, a small part of the video is downloaded to enable the subscriber to begin viewing the video with minimal delay. The subscriber can begin to view the content, while in the background progressive sections of the movie are downloaded without interrupting the viewer's experience. Progressive Download is particularly beneficial in areas where the bandwidth to the home is not high enough to sustain high-quality streaming or where the quality of service (QoS) is not sufficiently stable.

The viewer has a true DVD-quality experience with all of the features expected from a DVD including fast forward, rewind, pause and restart. Infogate's Progressive Download removes the wait, giving subscribers near immediate service. This breakthrough is available for both IPTV and PC subscribers.

OnDema also enables the on-demand service operator to offer a complete download of movies prior to viewing. This provides service operators with another option for generating revenues from new services. With both features OnDema maintains security and protects the content from copying or unauthorized use.

"Not all broadband networks have the quality of service to enable video on demand services. With OnDema's Progressive Download option, more broadband service operators can leverage their networks to offer high quality viewing experiences to their subscribers. Service operators will be able to benefit from new revenue-generating VOD services," stated Eran Levin, Infogate Online's Chief Technology Officer. "And because the video startup time is reduced to minimum, the subscriber can begin to enjoy the entertainment almost immediately, reinforcing the value of the service."
