Huawei eLTE Leads Global Commercial Deployment of MulteFire Technology
BARCELONA -- During the MWC 2018, the MulteFire Alliance hosted an Open Day event. Dr. Said Tatesh, on behalf of Huawei, presented the latest progress of Huawei’s eLTE solution that supports the MulteFire standard. He shared some commercial use cases of eLTE in diverse verticals, such as automation ports, intelligent transportation and digital industrial parks, demonstrating the maturity of the MulteFire industry.
During this Open Day, the MulteFire Alliance introduced the forthcoming MulteFire Release 1.1. Previous MulteFire Release 1.0 had focused mainly on broadband applications of LTE technology on unlicensed spectrum, while Release 1.1 will extend MulteFire to the use of narrowband IoT technology. This provides enterprises with reliable, flexible, stable, safe and efficient wireless connectivity services.
With the continuous evolution of technology standards, Huawei eLTE product and solution is leading the global commercial deployment of wireless private networks in various industries. Said Tatesh, a board member of the MulteFire Alliance and an expert from Huawei's European Standards Division, shared in his keynote speech the latest global business practices of eLTE, industrial wireless solution based on the MulteFire standard.
eLTE is an industrial wireless solution which is based on Huawei's leading wireless solution and oriented towards 5G evolution. With the digital acceleration in various industries, connections between people, objects and systems are of crucial importance. Based on this goal, eLTE can achieve ubiquitous connectivity through a network to carry voice and video. It breaks the deployment bottleneck of wireless networks through a comprehensive utilization of licensed and unlicensed spectrum, and provides industrial users with high-performance and easy-to-deploy features. At the same time, eLTE employs integrated strategies, joint industry applications and terminal partners to accelerate the digitization of various industries.
“Based on MulteFire standard, eLTE-U has realized performance of LTE and the ease of Wi-Fi deployment by introducing advanced anti-interference techniques, scheduling and security encryption of LTE into unlicensed spectrum.” Taking Shanghai Yangshan Phase Four Automation Terminal as an example, Said Tatesh firstly introduced the successful practice of eLTE in this world's largest automated port that was opened recently. “Benefit from the advantages of eLTE-U network in high reliability, low latency (<50ms), AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) and other business in automation port can be deployed smoothly, greatly improving the efficiency of the port”. This successful practice is a great exploration of MulteFire's standard technology in industrial production networks. MulteFire technology advantages will not be maximized without focusing on the core production business hosting.
In addition to automated ports, Huawei eLTE has also been successfully put into commercial use in many industries, including unmanned railway transportation, unattended AGV control, and broadband and narrowband industry interconnection. This shows that MulteFire technology can play an important role in various industries. With 5G oriented evolution, eLTE will become an important bearer network for digitalization in the industry.
"Huawei attaches great importance to the MulteFire standards and has made significant contributions to MulteFire's commercial exploration and industrial maturity." Said Tatesh concluded, "Actions speak louder than words. Together with members of the MulteFire Alliance, Huawei will continue to invest heavily to explore and promote success practices in more and more industries, promoting MulteFire to play an important role in the industry digitization.”
