Huawei and Zain KSA Deployed LampSite Digital Indoor Solution to Deliver Record-Breaking 3Gbps User Experience at Leap 2023

Huawei, the leading global provider of information communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, partnered with Zain KSA to deploy the LampSite Digital indoor solution at the Leap Tech event held at the Riyadh Front Expo Centre from February 6th to 9th, 2023. The innovative technology provided a ubiquitous gigabit user experience with Huawei’s unique 5G digital indoor distribution solution for Zain booth, setting a new record for 5G indoor coverage.

During the event, the exhibition hall experienced a high density of people and high capacity requirements, which made it difficult to fully cover the exhibition with outdoor macro base stations. The traditional indoor DAS solution capacity depends on sector capacity expansion, which can cause inter-sector interference and result in the capacity and user experience requirements of the exhibition hall not being met.

To overcome these challenges, Huawei and Zain KSA worked together to utilize the unique Distributed M-MIMO technology of Huawei’s digital indoor solution. The Distributed M-MIMO technology uses multi-antenna joint reception and transmission to convert the interference on the cell boundary into the desired signal that carries cancelable data. In addition to improving the overall capacity, this feature reduces interference to improve user experience and reduce rate loss caused by interference. The solution verification test showed that the user-perceived downlink rate increased by 30% and the downlink peak throughput reached 3 Gbps, providing a seamless gigabit experience for indoor and outdoor users, The solution verification test showed that the user-perceived downlink rate increased by 30% and the downlink peak throughput reached 3 Gbps with EN-DC technology (LTE carrier aggration of 20MHz + 20MHz, 5G carrier aggration of 90MHz + 100MHz spectrum), providing a seamless gigabit experience for indoor and outdoor users.

In addition to providing a solid foundation for exploring diversified mobile broadband services in complex environments such as airports, shopping malls, and metros, the seamless gigabit experience at the Leap Tech event has set a new record for 5G indoor coverage.
