SEATTLE -- WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WGRD), a leading provider of Internet security solutions, entered the larger and distributed enterprise Gigabit firewall market with the Firebox Vclass line of appliances. Featuring a custom-built security ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) at its core, the Firebox Vclass includes the V100, V80, V60 and V10 appliances, which are specifically designed to address the performance and flexibility needs of a wide range of customers running large distributed networks and data center environments. These products offer a world-class performance range of 10-20,000 IPSec VPN tunnels and 75-600 Megabit firewall throughput. "WatchGuard is executing on our vision to expand the depth and breadth of our offering," said Jean Nassar, senior vice president of marketing, WatchGuard Technologies. "With the integration of RapidStream and the roll out of an ASIC-based, high-speed family of products, we are addressing the needs of customers that require enterprise-class networking functionality and performance with a comprehensive new class of appliances. The Firebox Vclass strengthens our long-term strategy and commitment to address three fundamental security needs - depth of security, simplicity of implementation and management and vigilance against the latest threats." Consistent with WatchGuard's mission to simplify the management and deployment of security solutions, the new appliances include Vcontroller, a robust, Java-based software application that provides an added layer of security when managing and configuring site-to-site and site-to-remote VPN locations. An integrated, intuitive icon and wizard-based graphical user interface (GUI) manages firewall and VPN policies. In a separate release: WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WGRD), a leading provider of Internet security solutions, announced the WatchGuard Firebox System Version 6.0 (WFS 6.0). WFS6.0 is the software upgrade for existing Firebox III products including the Firebox 700, Firebox 1000, Firebox 2500 and Firebox 4500 models. The Firebox III family is a sophisticated, easy to manage security solution for small- to medium-sized enterprises. The company also announced new Mobile User VPN (MUVPN) Management Software, making MUVPN deployment easier and offering improved security. WFS6.0 integrates a new Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) with built-in certificate authority, providing strong authentication for mobile and fixed site VPN connections. In addition, network administrators can simplify management of MUVPNs by specifying Windows NT user authentication. WFS6.0 supports broadband connectivity for Cable and DSL lines through PPPoE and DHCP and includes improvements to Web content filtering capabilities within its transparent application proxies. In a separate release: WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WGRD), a leading provider of Internet security solutions, announced Version 2.0 of ServerLock for Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems, and Version 1.1 of AppLock/Web that provides one-click protection for Microsoft IIS Web servers. These updates are focused on expanding the simplicity and flexibility of implementing server protection at the core of the network. ServerLock is WatchGuard's unique solution designed to protect against vulnerabilities on servers exploited by attacks such as Code Red and Nimda, as well as the threats posed by internal errors or attacks. Through ServerLock 2.0's new graphical, explorer-like interface, applications, content and system resources may be protected individually or by file type. A customer can determine the protection status of any file on the server and change its status with a single mouse click. This improves the ease with which a ServerLock administrator can protect or unprotect the individual components of the operating system, application files and valuable corporate content. "With the new ServerLock interface, I was able to easily fine-tune our protections to fit our particular requirements," said Ann Johnson, senior systems analyst, Utility Automation Integrators, Inc. "ServerLock has helped us further tighten our security by adding valuable protection on our critical corporate servers." WatchGuard Technologies Inc.
