PLANO, Texas -- GENBAND Inc., a market-leading developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, today unveiled the SR3™ Routing Proxy solution, designed to manage the routing of high volume SIP-based communications across mobile and fixed-line IP-IP and IP-TDM service provider networks. The SR3 seamlessly integrates with GENBAND’s broad portfolio of session border controllers (SBCs) and signaling controllers to deliver higher traffic volumes, with higher call profitability and superior management control.

The GENBAND SR3 solution offers virtually unlimited scale and superior performance with an N+1 cluster architecture that handles 250 calls per second on each server, 10 million routes and 100 million rates. By offloading heavy routing functionality with better tools to efficiently manage routing decisions, the SR3 significantly reduces manpower requirements and improves the efficiency of today’s switching platforms. The SR3 also enables routing at the edge by allowing devices such as class 4 controllers and SBCs to route calls, thereby reducing port usage from four to six down to two ports.

Centralized routing enables the SR3 to support a multi-vendor architecture and rapidly upload rate plans and routing changes to enforce profitability on every call. The SR3 integrates with GENBAND’s S3™ SBC/GenView™ Real-Time Session Manager (RSM) solution, as well as the combined C3™ Signaling Controller/G9™ Gateway Converged Gateway solution, providing comprehensive routing support for international and US domestic carriers while blending TDM to IP and IP to IP networks.

“We’re very pleased to provide a routing proxy solution to the market that is cutting-edge both in terms of scale and in return on investment for service providers,” said Mehmet Balos, Chief Marketing Officer at GENBAND. “By enabling service providers to enforce the most profitable route for every call and free switch platform capacity, we estimate that SR3 customers will be able to gain additional margins as high as 10 – 12 percent by routing and ‘buying’ more discretely. Especially in today’s economy, that’s a significant payoff.”
