SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Vivace Networks, Inc., a leading provider of flexible, high-performance multi-service WAN switches to carriers worldwide, today announced the general availability of a product family designed to help carriers strategically leverage, extend and evolve the capabilities of their existing data networks. The Viva product family — which today consists of the Viva5100 and the Viva1050 Multi-Service IP™ switches — is the first in the industry to deliver circuit-switched reliability and predictability on packet-based networks by combining deterministic Layer 2 switching and Quality of Service(QoS) capabilities with the flexibility and intelligence of Layer 3 routing. True Multi-Service IP switching allows carriers to efficiently and profitably deliver business-class Frame Relay, ATM, Ethernet and IP services from a single, easily integrated platform. The Viva product family provides the hard QoS and end-to-end service level guarantees needed for high-margin services, enabling carriers to lower CAPEX and OPEX across their existing network infrastructure while profitably scaling their services. “Today is the day a vendor finally delivers systems that can fulfill the promise of Multi-Service IP,” said Ken Koenig, Vivace Networks’ CEO. “We’ve focused on developing all the underlying hardware and software technology needed for a system that is truly carrier-scale in every dimension. We talked to carriers and incorporated their requirements into our system design — from the custom ASIC-based switching and packet processing technology to the multi-service operating system."Vivace Networks
