Symantec Experts to Speak at GFIRST

Two Symantec security experts will present at the Government Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams national conference

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC - News), the global leader in information security, today announced that two Symantec security experts will present at the Government Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (GFIRST) National Conference, April 5-7, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, Fla. Designed to draw public and private sector experts together for discussions on information security technologies, strategies and procedures, the conference provides an exchange of perspective and ideas for federal government information security response teams in the military, intelligence and law enforcement communities.

On Tuesday, April 5, John McCumber, Symantec's public sector strategic program manager, will deliver a presentation titled "Assessing and Managing Security Risk in IT Systems." The presentation will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. McCumber will outline key risk management criteria for enterprises and offer recommendations for achieving mission-appropriate balances of IT asset security and high availability.

On Wednesday, April 6, Oliver Friedrichs, a senior manager with Symantec Security Response, will deliver a presentation on key findings of Symantec's seventh bi-annual Internet Security Threat Report. The presentation will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. Friedrichs will outline current trends pertaining to IT vulnerability totals, network attack activity, malicious code developments, and future concepts to monitor going forward. His remarks will also describe mitigating strategies for countering evolving information security threats.
