BOSTON -- Spirent Communications(tm), a wholly ownedbusiness group of Spirent plc (NYSE: SPM), today announced advances fortesting 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) with its industry leading AX/4000 10GbEUniPHY test solution, which implements, 10GbE LAN and WAN, OC-192 Packetover SONET (PoS) and Layer 1 Bit Error Rate Test (BERT) - on a single testmodule with routing emulation. The delivery of the 10GbE UniPHY solution coincides with theincreasing deployment of Gigabit Ethernet in the MAN and LAN space, which isdriving a need for higher speed backbones to supply increased bandwidth. Thenew test module implements the current draft of the IEEE 802.3ae task forcefor the 10GBASE-LW and 10GBASE-LR PMDs. It will allow telecommunicationequipment manufacturers and their customers, the service providers, to testconformance and performance as well as routing emulation for all majorprotocols, including BGP-4, MPLS, IS-IS and OSPF.Spirent Communications
