SINGAPORE -- Quarry Technologies, the performance leading supplier of carrier-class security service routers, announced today that Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel), Asia’s leading communications provider, has completed an initial deployment of Quarry’s iQ8000® Security Service Routers. The Quarry system is a key component in SingTel’s next generation Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, which expands the communications provider’s Virtual Private Network (VPN) offerings to include security services for international business customers. SingTel installed Quarry systems in USA, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan points of presence (POPs) to enhance its ConnectPlus IP Network service offerings.

The Quarry deployment furthers SingTel’s ability to deliver VPN services that provide the security of a traditional corporate private network with the features and flexibility of Internet Protocol (IP) access. SingTel is taking advantage of Quarry’s integrated MPLS and IP security (IPsec) capabilities to provide secure remote, site-to-site, and extranet access for its international business customers. The iQ8000s integrate MPLS with IPsec remote access to deliver a completely customisable iQSecure™ IPsec client that fits seamlessly into the existing VPN architecture and allows SingTel to brand the secure gateway. Quarry’s iQSMS®, service management suite enables the per-subscriber management of thousands of connections across the network.

“Protecting our customers with the best security features is a SingTel priority,” said Mr. Soh Keng Hock, deputy director Private IP Development, SingTel. “The combination of Quarry’s performance, functionality, interoperability and pricing puts it ahead of other solutions. Quarry’s IPsec for MPLS, particularly remote access, enables SingTel to meet increased customer demand for security services and continue to strengthen our standing as a leader in the VPN space.”

Quarry’s iQ8000 Security Service Routers will extend security services to the edge of SingTel’s MPLS VPN network to secure incoming and outgoing connections. The Quarry platform provides an advanced Internet gateway with features that include Network Address Translation (NAT), virtual routing, firewall, and IPsec services such as 3DES encryption, all of which can be run while maintaining wire speed performance, a critical factor for SingTel.

“In a time of increasing network attacks and breaches, SingTel is ensuring uncompromising levels of security across all modes of VPN connectivity,” said Ian Mashiter, president and CEO of Quarry Technologies. “The SingTel deployment highlights Quarry’s ability to provide carriers with best-in-class security services that work both within their technical infrastructures and their business models, so they can continue to evolve their security offerings to meet the needs of their corporate customers.”
