MUNICH -- HiPath OpenScape is the application suite for presence management, conferen-cing and collaboration from the Siemens Information and Communication Net-works Group (ICN). The real time communication application enables more effi-cient teamworking and optimizes workflows and interaction-intensive business processes can be organized more effectively. HiPath OpenScape Version 2.0, which was presented for the first time at CeBIT 2004, is now on the market offe-ring a range of new functions including automatic updating of availability and ac-cessibility status, and a software development kit for simplified integration into business processes and applications.

The new automatic availability and accessibility status updating feature makes opera-ting the system significantly less time-consuming for individual users. Entries from the Microsoft Outlook calendar are transferred automatically and displayed as messages about subscriber availability (for example "in a meeting", "away on business" or the like). These messages, which also indicate the accessibility status of the subscriber, are sent to the caller via the new Presence Indicator. The caller is also notified of the terminal via which the subscriber may be contacted at that moment (mobile phone in the case of subscribers away on business, SMS or e-mail for subscribers in a meeting, etc.).

HiPath OpenScape is based on the web services architecture and on open standards including Session Internet Protocol (SIP), SIMPLE (SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions), SALT (Speech Application Language Tags), SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). Its presence-oriented features can hence be inte-grated readily into common IT-supported business processes such as CRM databases (Customer Relationship Management), customer service resources and other back of-fice platforms. This integration is further simplified by the Software Development Kit (SDK), a feature for developing individual solutions for use with HiPath OpenScape that includes defined interfaces and enables partners and customers to link to their particularly important applications and proprietary solutions without difficulty.
