Siemens Takes Juniper to Austria

Telekom Austria awards Siemens the contract to supply the Juniper E-series routers to extend Austria's ADSL broadband network

MUNICH -- Telekom Austria has awarded Siemens the contract to supply the E-series routers from its partner Juniper Networks Inc. for extending the Austrian ADSL broadband network. The Siemens Group Information and Communication Networks (IC Networks) will install the broadband access technology, integrate it into the existing Telekom Austria´s ADSL network. Telekom Austria will use this platform to enable its customers in Austria to use new multimedia services. Additional access nodes are scheduled, based on demand, for startup in 2004.

Siemens has already installed the new routers in the state capitals Vienna, Linz, Graz and Innsbruck. With this project, Siemens is supporting Telekom Austria's broadband strategy of establishing multimedia services via high-speed internet extensively throughout Austria.

Fast subscriber and service activation, coupled with the resilience of the network, will enable network capacity to be increased efficiently. In addition, the efficiency and reliability of the Juniper Networks components within the Telekom Austria network will guarantee fast transmission speeds for broadband services, improving the customer experience over existing options and as a result increasing end-user traffic levels for the service provider.
