Siemens Appoints CIO

Siemens names Jan D. Dressel, former VP and CIO Siemens Asia Pacific in Singapore, as vice president and chief information officer

NEW YORK -- Siemens Corporation, the U.S. arm of Siemens AG (NYSE: SI - News), has named Jan D. Dressel vice president and chief information officer, effective November 1, 2003. Dressel, age 43, will be responsible for the company's U.S. IT and e-business strategies and will be based at the company's U.S. headquarters in New York City. He will report to Klaus Kleinfeld, president and CEO of Siemens Corporation.

Dressel, who has worked for Siemens for more than 20 years, previously served as vice president and chief information officer for Siemens Asia Pacific in Singapore where he played a key role in building the technology infrastructure for the growth of Siemens' businesses in China and throughout the region. Prior to his assignment in Asia, Dressel served the company in a diversified career and held several key positions in IT, operations management and finance in Canada and the U.S. His extensive experience and passion for information technology will contribute to the organization.

Dressel, a Canadian from Dutch decent, graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
