SHENZHEN, China -- Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, recently announced that it was selected by China TieTong Telecommunications Corporation (China TieTong), a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Mobile, as the sole provider for a massive expansion of CTTNET, a nationwide high-speed broadband IP network operated by China TieTong. Huawei will provide its advanced Quidway NetEngine5000E (NE5000E) core routers for this project.

China TieTong’s CTTNET faces scalability challenges due to a growing number of subscribers and increasing traffic on the network. China TieTong’s already large number of broadband subscribers is expected to increase 35%, to 10 million, by the end of 2010 and traffic on CTTNET is growing between 70 percent and 100 percent each year. In order to meet this rising demand, China TieTong has embarked, in partnership with Huawei, on the CTTNET national backbone project (phase 5) to expand the service capabilities of the broadband network, and, in turn, to offer better services to its subscriber base.

Huawei was selected by China TieTong on the strength of its NE5000E routers which, due to superb scalability and high stability, passed China TieTong’s rigorous tests. As part of Huawei’s All-IP convergence strategy, the NE5000E is able to achieve a 2.56T port capacity, scalable to 200T. This highly-advanced router will methodically address the bandwidth bottlenecks that afflict core nodes of China TieTong’s network. In addition, the router’s patented resilient matrix and in-service hardware expansion (ISHE) will open up opportunities for seamless capacity expansion of router cluster systems and will maximise protection of carriers’ investments.
