OPNET Chairman & CEO, Marc Cohen, stated, "OPNET software embeds expert knowledge on how network devices, network protocols, applications and servers operate. This intelligence enables our customers to be far more effective in optimizing performance and availability of their networks and applications." New Features in OPNET 8.1 include:

  • Significant new troubleshooting, analysis, and prediction capabilities for the Application Characterization Environment (ACE module). The ACE module captures live application transactions and imports information from leading network management products, including Sniffer Technologies

  • Enhanced support for importing live operational traffic flow information from NetScout nGenius. OPNET IT Guru and SP Guru use this information to optimize network capacity planning, network resiliency, and application deployments

  • Expanded rule suites for the NetDoctor module, enabling enterprises and service providers to automate the tedious processes of device configuration troubleshooting and change validation

  • Significant new features across the entire protocol suite, including: ATM, BGP, DOCSIS, EIGRP, IP, MPLS, OSPF, PNNI, TCP, and Wireless LAN (802.11)
