Nortel Wins VOIP Deal in Israel

AIRPORT CITY, Israel -- The municipality of Rishon LeZion in Israel has deployed advanced IP telephony solutions from Nortel (NYSE:NT) (TSX:NT) to provide enhanced voice and data services for its new headquarters serving the city council administration.

Nortel provided Rishon LeZion with a complete telephony network for its headquarters, including 600 telephone extensions and feature-rich communications capabilities to help increase productivity. This network deployment, recently completed by Nortel senior channel partner GlobCall, will also make it possible for Rishon LeZion to extend IP telephony applications to its other municipal sites in the future.

Municipal agents assisting city residents have been equipped with leading-edge technology that will quickly direct calls to the appropriate public official based on expertise and availability, ensuring faster and more effective response to issues concerning the community.
