Nokia Expands DSL in China

BEIJING -- Nokia and Guangdong Telecom, part of China Telecom, have signed a contract for the continuous phased expansion of Guangdong Telecom's broadband DSL network. The contract covers deliveries to eight major cities in Guangdong province, recognized as one of the most economically and commercially advanced provinces in China. Nokia will deliver its D50e DSLAM, a proven ATM-based broadband access node that also offers an IP interface option, allowing carriers to flexibly choose between ATM and IP for carrying traffic through the network. In addition to equipment, Nokia will provide project management and implementation supervision services for fast network ramp-up. The expansion under this contract is already being delivered and will be completed in time for China's International Telecommunications Day in mid May. China is already recognized as one of the leading broadband growth markets of today and in to the future.
