Network Equipment Technologies appoints Fred D'Alessio to its board of directors

FREMONT, Calif. -- Network Equipment Technologies, Inc., dba net.com (NYSE: NWK - News), announced today that Fred D'Alessio has been elected to its Board of Directors.

Mr. D'Alessio brings over 30 years of telecommunications experience to net.com, which includes executive positions with Bell Atlantic, Verizon Communications, and Capitol Management Partners, a consulting firm for early stage communication organizations. As president of Verizon's Advanced Services group, Mr. D'Alessio led both the launch of its DSL and Broadband ISP businesses and the effort to become the long distance market's first Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC).

At Bell Atlantic, Mr. D'Alessio's senior management positions included president, Advanced Services group; group president of Consumer Business; vice president of operations and engineering; and CEO and president of Bell Atlantic Maryland. With the mergers of Nynex and GTE, Mr. D'Alessio sought to improve overall customer experience by combining the best practices of both companies while saving millions of dollars.
