TOKYO -- Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) (Nasdaq:IIJI) (TSE1:3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced that it has established Layer 2 connectivity between IIJ's IP network and the NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s packet network. In addition, the IIJ Direct Access, IIJ's proprietary remote access solution that creates a private connection to the corporate LAN from a mobile environment, will be accessible from terminals using the IIJ Mobile Service/Type D starting on November 24, 2009.

IIJ Direct Access was the industry's first remote access solution that provided closed network connections to the corporate LAN using existing Internet access lines. A low-cost, secure, remote access environment is created with a closed network connection between the IIJ proprietary remote access device, the ID Gateway located at the customer's premises, and a mobile terminal that uses the IIJ Mobile high-speed mobile communications service.

In the past, the only access lines available to mobile devices using IIJ Direct Access were the IIJ Mobile Service/Type E (using the EMOBILE network) and the WILLCOM PHS (user provided), but now users can also select the IIJ Mobile Service/Type D and enjoy a wider service area using a closed network connection with IIJ Direct Access.
