PARIS -- Responding to operators’ demands for more cost effective copper loop broadband qualification, test and diagnostics, LEA S.A., the leading supplier of DSL splitter solutions, today announced SplitterMux, an integrated DSL Test Access and splitter system.

With SplitterMux, DSL service providers and network operators can offer differentiated services dependant on loop quality faster and to more subscribers, thus increasing revenues, while at the same time cutting down drastically the costs of solving DSL faults, achieving significant savings in operating expenditures. This is achieved without requiring additional scarce central office or remote cabinet real estate, and with full-featured test access including Metallic Test Access.

SplitterMux allows broadband testing of loops at all narrowband and broadband frequencies, for any loop length and topology, with operator-selected test heads and test suites, in an automated, centralized fashion, at constant DSL port density, and with reduced cabling costs.

Before SplitterMux, service providers were forced to choose between manual test access, requiring numerous costly technician dispatches to diagnose, isolate and resolve faults, or a variety of partial solutions that were both costly, complex to deploy, and limited in functionality. In contrast, DSL service providers using SplitterMux experience a drastic reduction in unnecessary or misdirected technician dispatches, and faster and more accurate loop qualification, testing and diagnostics.

“With SplitterMux, LEA is contributing directly to the competitiveness of DSL service providers,” said Eric Berthaud, Chairman and CEO of LEA. “By combining a splitter system with a Test Access matrix, we help them reduce maintenance costs, inventory management and administrative costs, real estate and energy costs. At the same time SplitterMux helps DSL service providers differentiate their offering on service levels and activation time.”
