Juniper announced key appointments to its marketing leadership team

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced key appointments to its marketing leadership team. Steven Wastie, formerly vice president, Emerging Technologies, Juniper Networks EMEA, assumes the position of vice president, Enterprise Marketing; Shailesh Shukla, formerly vice president, Strategy and Business Development at Redback Networks, has been appointed vice president, Service Provider Marketing and Partnerships; and Sam Ezekiel, formerly senior director, Marketing and general manager for the Access Router and Wireless Mobile Router Businesses at Cisco Systems, has been appointed vice president, Managed Services Marketing.

Reporting to Jeff Lindholm, chief marketing officer (CMO), these appointments reinforce Juniper's customer-first approach and are focused on delivering alignment between marketing and the Enterprise and Service Provider Business Teams. These individuals will focus on driving the vision, strategy and value propositions for their segments.

A strong marketing strategist, Wastie joined Juniper Networks in 2005 as part of the acquisition of Peribit Networks, where he held the position of international marketing director. Prior to that, he was vice president, marketing, at enterprise content management vendor, Hummingbird. He joined Hummingbird from Inktomi where he held the position of vice president and general manager, Core Products Group. Prior to that, he held various marketing positions at Netscape Communications and AT&T. Wastie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Studies and Marketing from London Guildhall University.

Shukla, a well-known industry executive, brings more than 16 years of Service Provider, strategy consulting and marketing experience to Juniper. He joins the company from Redback Networks where he held several positions during his seven year tenure, including vice president, Strategy and Business Development and vice president, Worldwide Marketing. Shukla was responsible for driving Redback's strategy, including acquisitions, and positioning and launching the new Redback after financial restructuring.

Prior to Redback, Shukla was a partner in the Communications Information and Entertainment (CIE) industry practice at Mercer Management Consulting, a Boston strategy-consulting firm. Prior to that, Shukla held management positions at Booz Allen Hamilton and Sprint Corporation. He holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, Massachusetts, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor's degree with Honors in Electrical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India.

An industry veteran with almost 30 years experience in the networking and telecommunications industry, Ezekiel joins Juniper from Cisco Systems where he held the position of senior director, marketing and general manager, Access and Mobile Router Businesses. During his more than five year tenure he created new and innovative go-to-market strategies including the establishment of the company's worldwide access router managed services business and established an emerging business with wireless mobile access routers. He joined Cisco from HCL Technologies where he was executive vice president, Strategy and Business Development. Prior to that he was senior vice president, Marketing at Network Equipment Technologies and spent 16 years at Amdahl Corporation where he was vice president and general manager for the Communications System Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of London, UK.
