QUEBEC CITY -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSE: EXF) announced today the introduction of a new OTDR module for its FTB-100 field-testing platform. The FTB-74234C-B OTDR module enables the user to test for three wavelengths¯1310 nm, 1550 nm and 1625 nm¯with a single touch of a button. As a result, the enhanced OTDR module is ideal for fiber testing in the O-, C- and L-bands as well as for multi-fiber testing. In addition, new software technology optimizes all test-related tasks such as parameter settings, file auto-naming and auto-documentation, which are necessary for data acquisitions and file management. In the context of high-fiber count testing, each minute saved on one file multiplies by thousands over an entire network. “To lessen the bottleneck in metro and edge networks, telecommunications carriers are adding channels in the C- and L-bands,” said Mario Larose, Vice-President of Marketing at EXFO. “Since this transition does not happen overnight, carriers often operate mixed networks during this period. Consequently, it generates the need for O-, C- and L-band characterization. Clearly, these carriers can rely on our high-performance OTDR combined with the simplicity, reliability and flexibility offered by our FTB-100 platform.”EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc.
