RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Overture Networks, a leading developer of converged packet access solutions, today announced that Verizon Business, a unit of Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) has certified the Overture Networks ISG 5100 and ISG 45+ for Ethernet service offerings over Verizon Business’s global network infrastructure.

The Overture Networks’ ISG product family is purpose-built for the customer edge and first level aggregation points and provides Ethernet and TDM-based services over any underlying infrastructure. The ISG 5100 is a multipurpose, multi-slot chassis that provides access and aggregation for connections ranging from 1 Mbps to 1 Gbps. The ISG 45+ provides 10/100 Ethernet access to the customer and a single DS3 uplink to the network.

According to Vertical Systems Group's latest research, revenues from Carrier Ethernet services worldwide currently exceed $9.1 billion and will top $30 billion by 2012. This sizeable market opportunity is currently served by both fiber and copper deployments. The Overture Networks ISG product family provides support for Ethernet services over a variety of connections types ranging from T1/E1, DS3/E3, OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4 and Gigabit Ethernet.

"We are delighted that Verizon Business has chosen Overture Networks to provide solutions in the Ethernet services arena,” said Jeff Reedy, president and CEO of Overture Networks. “Overture has an excellent record of innovation and global deployments where we have helped providers deliver a diverse set of services that leverage their business expertise and expand their market opportunities.”
