OTTAWA -- Meriton Networks Inc., specialists in Agile Optical Networking, announced today that Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, has selected the Meriton 6400 OTP (Optical Transport Platform) to link its Internet Business ExchangeTM (IBX®) centers in the Los Angeles area. Touted as the “Home of the Internet,” Equinix is widely recognized as the leading provider of central hubs for more than 200 networks serving over 90% of the world's Internet networks. The world's largest web presences operate at Equinix, including organizations such as Google and Yahoo!

The Los Angeles deployment builds upon an earlier 6400 OTP network that links Equinix’s Silicon Valley area IBX centers. In early 2005, Equinix deployed several 6400 OTP systems to add capacity to its existing SONET rings, and to support the high growth in Gigabit Ethernet traffic. Impressed with the success of the original deployment, Equinix elected to leverage the strengths of the 6400 OTP for its Los Angeles area centers.
