FREMONT, Calif. -- Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: NWK - News), doing business as net.com, announced today that Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) has selected net.com's SHOUT900 IP telephony platform for deployment in its network. The sale represents further validation of the ShoutIP platform in the independent operating company (IOC) market.

ETC will use the SHOUT900 as a VoIP delivery platform to offer low cost SIP (session initiation protocol) based telephone services to its business and residential customers throughout southeastern Indiana. SIP is the new Internet signaling standard that enables carriers to deliver a wide variety of services through the Internet, such as telephone service, instant messaging, IP conferencing, presence management, etc. Additionally, ETC will use ShoutIP to convert Internet-based calls to the public telephone network (VoIP to PSTN) and vice versa, as well as interconnect with legacy H.323 IP networks.

"net.com's SHOUT900 solution enables significant and immediate cost savings through the use of IP technology. With the SHOUT platform in place, we can seamlessly migrate to new features and functionalities and quickly offer new services to our customers," said Steve Greiwe, Manager of Fixed Wireless Solutions for ETC. "Additionally, the integration of SIP and legacy signaling protocols like H.323 and SS7 in a single platform, along with net.com's enhanced GUI based network configuration and management tools, will allow us to achieve unprecedented levels of network efficiency."
