Dowslake Opens Production in China

The low-cost, 14,000 sq. ft. facility with highly skilled work force provides competitive advantage to OEM system customers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Dowslake Microsystems, a pioneer and provider of smart modules for intelligent networks, today announced the establishment of its China operations division.Incorporated in November 25th 2002 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Dowslake Microsystems, Dowslake China has spent the last 2 months setting up manufacturing lines and training local workers, under the guidance of its highly experienced operations team from Ottawa Canada. Dowslake has closed down its Ottawa facility and has relocated some key members to Shanghai in order to maintain the expertise and know-how in manufacturing and manufacturing related engineering.With 10 production lines and a fully automated test center, Dowslake’s China facility can ramp up in a very short time to deliver a volume in the range of 500 modules a month. The high quality manufacturing system including process and quality control developed at Ottawa location has been transferred to Shanghai. The new facility is already in the process of developing ISO9001 system and the final certification is expected in the summer 2003.The 14000 sqft. Facility is located in the heart of CaoHeJing High-Tech Park and is 10 minutes from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Neighbors include Lucent, 3M, GE, Epson, and many other foreign companies’ subsidiaries.The establishment of Dowslake Shanghai facility not only allows to provide competitive cost advantage to Dowslake customers, it also provides Dowslake a direct access to China and neighboring Asia market.
