SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Dowslake Microsystems, a provider of smart network building blocks from Ethernet to WDM, introduces MTS1080 - a 1U 19” rack mount 10 G Ethernet Transport Switch.

MTS1080 is a next generation high density 10GbE Ethernet transport switch with up to twelve Gigabit Ethernet ports for user services, and two 10 G Ethernet ports for either point-to-point, or ring network configurations.

All user or link ports use pluggable optics making it simple to increase bandwidth for more service revenue.

All standard Ethernet functions, such as circuit configuration via VLAN or Double VLAN, are part of the product features. Plus, unlike other 10G Ethernet switch, MTS1080 has a built-in pluggable WDM module, allowing operators to add bandwidth by simply cascading more MTS1080 without the need to lay new fiber. As a result, not only does MTS1080 provides TDM multiplexing and ADD/DROP functions as a traditional Ethernet switch, but also allows aggregation in the wavelength domain, making it possible to do both TDM and WDM multiplexing and ADD/DROP within the same 1U 19” “pizza-box”.

In addition to the circuit and wavelength provisioning capability, MTS1080 supports Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS according to RFC3619), such that when there is a fiber or equipment failure, the Ethernet ring can be healed within 50 ms, meeting SONET/SDH standard.

Extended management features include in-band remote management, SNMP tools, CLI and GUI, offering customers a product that fulfills network requirements.
