CyberGuard Passes ICAP Test

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- CyberGuard Corporation (Nasdaq:CGFW - News), a provider of proven, intelligent security solutions that protect business-critical assets for Global 2,000 organizations and government entities worldwide, today announced that the newest version of its Webwasher Content Security Management (CSM) Suite is the industry's first to pass tough ICAP compliance tests.

ICAP, short for "Internet Content Adaptation Protocol," is an open standard that allows certain computing-intense Web content filtering activities to be off-loaded and handled by other resources for speed and efficiency. The standard is supported by more than 80 software and hardware vendors. Some technology providers use "dialects" of ICAP which means those products may not operate with products from different vendors. Rigorous testing and compliance with ICAP requirements assure that Webwasher's CSM will interoperate seamlessly with other ICAP products that adhere to the standard. CyberGuard's Webwasher subsidiary is one of three co-hosts of the ICAP Forum (www.i-cap.org), together with Network Appliance and Akamai, and is in charge of ICAP interoperability.

"Passing the ICAP compliance test lets customers know that they can deploy our CSM as an ICAP server with another provider's ICAP client. They can protect their investment in software and hardware based on ICAP, since they can be certain that they can continue to use one product when they add or replace another one."

The testing was performed with Co-Advisor/ICAP test suite developed by The Measurement Factory (www.measurement-factory.com), an independent test tool maker, known for its Polygraph performance benchmark and protocol functionality test suites used throughout the industry. The test included hundreds of test cases covering all ICAP requirements.
