Phyworks appoints Cisco senior vice president, Paul Mountford, to its board

BRISTOL, U.K. -- Phyworks Limited, the fabless semiconductor company developing 10Gbps Electronic Dispersion Compensation (EDC) integrated circuits (IC’s) and additional IC’s supporting the LAN, SAN and telecommunications markets, today announced the appointment of Paul Mountford, senior vice president of worldwide channels at Cisco Systems, to its Board of Directors. The global Channel Program, which Mr. Mountford has led for over two years, is responsible for more than 92-percent of all Cisco enterprise and commercial business.

“I believe that Phyworks is properly positioned to impact the market as it transitions from an R&D venture to a commercial business,” Mountford said. “It is very exciting because all the right elements are lined up - talented people, experienced management, and an exceptional product portfolio for the optical network market.”

Mr. Mountford’s role on the Board will be to actively advise Phyworks on maximizing the market impact of its high-performance, low-cost integrated circuits. The company has several product launches planned for 2004, as it emerges from an extensive research and development programme.
