RALEIGH, N.C. -- CipherOptics, a leading innovator of high-speed data encryption, today announced the introduction of a high-performance network security gateway designed to enable the encryption of all data at full Gigabit Ethernet wire-speed transmission. Priced at a fraction of the cost of comparable hardware offerings, the new CipherOptics Security Gateway combines high-speed data encryption for both IPSec processing and SSL offload into a unified purpose-built technology platform to maximize existing network resource efficiency. "An estimated $15 billion was lost in 2000 by corporations worldwide due to network security breaches, viruses and hacker attacks," said Stephen Sigmond, Managing Director, RBC Capital Markets. "We believe that security solutions are critical enablers for the development of numerous multibillion-dollar markets, including e-commerce, Virtual Private Networks, wireless communications, application service providers and storage area network markets." Fully compatible with existing IP networks, the CipherOptics Security Gateway can be seamlessly deployed into Gigabit Ethernet environments, including IP site-to-site Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and storage over IP networks. Utilizing 3DES, an extremely secure encryption algorithm, the Security Gateway permits protected data delivery within bandwidth-intensive applications. Its high-speed 3DES IPSec processing incorporates low latency, rapid security association set-ups for sustained throughput to eliminate bottlenecks, while providing data authentication, encryption and integrity at true Gigabit rates.
