ANDOVER, Mass. -- Charlotte’s Web Networks, a leading developer of carrier-class routers for the emerging IP infrastructure, today announced the latest core router test results performed by Miercom, an industry-leading product test center. The test verified that the Charlotte’s Aranea-1 is the top performing core router tested by Miercom to date. The product is targeted for the service provider market in delivering high-priority, time-sensitive traffic like voice, video and data. The Aranea-1 outperformed products tested in previous studies from Cisco, Juniper and other vendors in wire-speed performance while offering best results including the fastest BGP convergence, lowest latency and jitter, and fine-grained QoS support. Miercom was commissioned by Charlotte’s Web Networks to undertake a test review of its Aranea-1 core router. Testing was based on the same methodology that was used by Miercom in testing both Cisco and Juniper core routers as reported by Cisco in July 2001. The test and product review of Charlotte’s router was conducted at a Miercom approved lab facility in August 2001. Rob Smithers, president of Miercom, stated, “Overall, Charlotte’s raised the bar for the industry and currently holds the record for the best performing core router that Miercom has tested to date. The Aranea-1 router prioritized traffic without packet loss or sequence errors and exhibited tight jitter control even during congestion.”Test results and background on the test can be found and downloaded on the Miercom website www.mier.com and the Charlotte’s Web Networks website www.cwnt.com.
