BT Names Head of China Center

BT appointed Jie Zhang as the head of its research centre in Shanghai

LONDON -- BT today announced the appointment of Jie Zhang as the head of its research centre in Shanghai, effective from the 12th November. Jie will be part of the global research team led by Mike Carr, BT’s chief science officer, and will head up an initial team of two - Kennedy Cheng and Jie Zhu.

BT's centre in Shanghai will work closely with the BT China team to assist customers and partners in China in harnessing technological innovations and taking on challenges. It will also share technology and service breakthroughs garnered from BT’s global experience from Chinese customers, suppliers and partners. The new Shanghai centre will engage in research and development across a broad spectrum of technology areas, from defining new product and service concepts through to development of product prototypes.

Jie Zhang said: “I’m really looking forwards to leading BT’s research programme in China. This talented research team will not only be collaborating with BT’s customers and partners, but also tapping into the research happening within universities and other science establishments in China – making a strong contribution to innovation in the region.”
