GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- BroadSoft®, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that 100 customers now use its BroadWorks® platform. BroadSoft is the first company in the VoIP application software market to reach this important milestone following the addition of 10 new customers from across the globe in the first quarter of 2005. These new customers include incumbent carriers and service providers in Africa, Asia, Australia, North America and Europe.

Underscoring its global industry leadership position, BroadSoft now counts among its customers 15 Tier 1 carriers worldwide, including BellSouth, MCI, Singtel and Telstra – three times that of its nearest competitor. Additionally, BroadWorks is currently deployed by more than half of the top 20 competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and many leading VoIP service providers, wholesalers and ISPs.

“One of the key metrics for market leadership is a company’s customer base, including the major service providers that will drive migration to advanced IP communications,” said Mark Bieberich, director, Communications Network Infrastructure, Yankee Group. “In this category, BroadSoft has set the bar high, capturing many top-tier global carriers and incumbents, as well as major competitive customers.”

BroadSoft continues to set the pace in VoIP applications innovations in 2005, by shipping the industry’s first IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)-compatible platform. IMS allows both wireless and wireline carriers to deliver the same advanced applications over landline, mobile or residential broadband networks. In 2005 BroadWorks also became the first VoIP application platform to provide a solution to critical IP PBX-hosted VoIP interworking through its joint SIPconnect initiative with manufacturers and service providers.

“Attaining 100 customers represents an exciting milestone, but it is the depth and quality of these wins, rather than the quantity, that solidifies BroadSoft’s market leadership position,” said Mike Tessler, president and CEO for BroadSoft Inc. “We intend to build on this success by continuing to deliver innovative, carrier-class VoIP application solutions.”

GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- BroadSoft®, Inc., the leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that Unient Communications a.s., a pan-European telecommunications systems provider, is using the BroadSoft BroadWorks VoIP application platform to offer European carriers the most comprehensive wholesale IP Centrex, hosted PBX and residential broadband service. Unient’s viphone service bundles BroadWorks' complete range of advanced voice features, such as user-configurable voicemail-to-email and find-me, follow-me services, with extensive professional services, including training, portal development, billing and localization for Europe's multi-lingual market.

As a BroadWorks systems integrator for major incumbents, such as Slovak Telecom, Unient provides European carriers a smooth migration path from a shared to a dedicated VoIP network solution. By minimizing CAPEX (capital expenditures) and providing a full suite of professional services, Unient’s viphone wholesale service removes barriers to entry for small carriers while enabling large carriers to focus on customer acquisition and long-term strategies rather than technical implementations of a VoIP service.

“BroadSoft is the clear leader in the hosted VoIP space in Europe,” said Pavel Chlupáèek, chairman of Unient. “BroadWorks’ best-in-class technology and platform architecture readily supports wholesale offerings and third-party development, including localization, which is crucial for this market. By choosing BroadSoft, we’re able to deliver wholesale services that carriers can launch quickly to begin earning revenue in their target market.”

“The wholesale model is essential in the European market for carriers who want to launch localized hosted VoIP services quickly without the challenges of building a network,” said Michael Tessler, CEO and chairman of BroadSoft. “With their unique combination of wholesale offerings and extensive professional services, Unient is successfully serving this market by enabling carriers to get to market as quickly and simply as possible.”
