WASHINGTON -- ATIS and the MultiService Forum (MSF) have agreed to establish a collaborative relationship that will speed the development of secure, robust, carrier-grade packet-based interconnection and end-to-end QoS for next-generation networks.

The two organizations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that enables MSF and ATIS committees and working groups to better align work efforts and unite areas of relevant expertise towards the development of critical industry standards.

"ATIS is committed to ensuring the communication industry gets the standards it needs to support the next-generation network in the timeframe in which it needs them," said Susan M. Miller, president and CEO of ATIS. "This MOU sets in motion a relationship that enables the rapid delivery of those standards."

"Through this agreement, MSF will align the technical expertise derived from its Implementation Agreements and interoperability testing with the ATIS TOPS Council's vision for the future of telecommunications," said Roger Ward, president of MSF. "By working together, the two groups will enable faster realization of packet-based interconnect."
