RICHARDSON, Texas -- Anritsu Company introduces an option for its MP1777A that enables the jitter analyzer to perform jitter evaluation at the 2.677 GHz, 5.354 GHz and 10.709 GHz bit rates. With the new option, the MP1777A becomes the world's first jitter measuring instrument that accurately measures jitter characteristics at standard telecom, FEC and Optical Transport Network (OTN) 10.709 Gb/s data rates. The new option addresses the requirements of device manufacturers, system vendors, and service providers to test the jitter characteristics of devices under test (DUTs), including encoders, decoders, optical modules and CDRs (clock and data recovery) for OTN. In addition to being used during R&D to test devices, the MP1777A can also be used in manufacturing applications. With the new option, the MP1777A supports jitter measurements at the 10.709 FEC rate for OTN per ITU-T G.709 OTU-2, in addition to OC-48/STM-16, OC-96/STM-32, and OC-192/STM-64 bit rates. It offers the required jitter bandwidth of up to 80 MHz on jitter generation and measurement, as well as up to a maximum of 3200 Ulp-p jitter modulation amplitude for testing at 10 Gb/s and FEC rates. The jitter signal generation and measuring functions of the MP1777A permit highly accurate evaluation of jitter characteristics such as jitter tolerance, jitter transfer, and output jitter. The MP1777A can be easily integrated with Anritsu's MP1763C/MP1764C 12.5 Gb/s bit error rate test (BERT) systems to make highly accurate jitter transfer and tolerance measurements on devices and modules. It can also be used to evaluate jitter in terrestrial and submarine network equipment at standard telecom and FEC data rates when integrated with the MP9677B E/O and O/E converter.
