Comcast selects Alopa for secure provisioning of voice-over-IP service

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSK, CMCSA) today announced that Alopa Networks joins the list of vendors for its previously released plans for deployment of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) primary line phone service."The addition of Alopa as a vendor in our VoIP deployments will enable secured voice provisioning for residential voice services", said Franklyn Athias, VP New Media Development. "We were impressed with Alopa's participation in the PacketCable provisioning and security specification, as well as their involvement in the Interoperability Testing Network at CableLabs. Alopa quickly enabled seamless integration and interoperability among multiple vendors in our labs."The Alopa MetaServ platform enables secure provisioning of enhanced cable modems Embedded Media Terminal Adaptors (EMTAs) required for VoIP. The Alopa solution has been developed towards compliance with the latest PacketCable™ specification. Alopa will also provide its SNMPv3 Stack, other security (i.e., Kerberos) components, and mediation to the other OSS and back-office components to improve operational flexibility and provide an efficient platform from which to manage the complexity of the Comcast systemAlopa Networks Inc.Comcast Corp.
