PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced the signature of a frame agreement with TELEKOMUNIKACJA POLSKA (TP), Poland’s leading telecommunications provider, for the supply and installation of Alcatel's DSL platform as part of the continuing roll-out and development of TP’s broadband access service in Poland. The value of the contract is 6 million Euros, and the equipment should be operational by the end of 2005.

Under the terms of this agreement, Alcatel will supply its 7301 Advanced Services Access Manager (ASAM), which extends TP's current bandwidth capabilities and enables the provision of enhanced broadband communication services. In addition to high-speed Internet access, the platform enables TP to offer a range of integrated data, voice and video services such as video streaming, broadcast video, video on demand, music download and interactive gaming. The solution also extends the operator's service reach to less densely populated and remote rural areas.

“Our competitive advantage, among other things is our highly developed and efficient network infrastructure, which guarantees the high quality of our services,” commented Konrad Kobylecki, member of the board of TELEKOMUNIKACJA POLSKA, in charge of technology. “ Our goal in the near future is to present our clients with modern, integrated, innovative and value priced service offerings. Following the market’s liberalization and Poland’s entry into the EU, we hope to maintain our leadership position as the local provider of choice ”

“Poland’s recent entrance to the European Union is expected to stimulate economic growth and accelerate the demand for telecommunications in both business and residential markets,” added Michel Rahier, in charge of Alcatel’s fixed communications activities. “Alcatel has the portfolio and business expertise to support TELEKOMUNIKACJA POLSKA in expanding its service reach and boost broadband services on the Polish market.”
