AcceLight Demos GMPLS Switch

OTTAWA -- AcceLight Networks Canada Inc. teamed up with the Canadian government's Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC) to show the cost and technology benefits of the world's first fully operational photonic service switch. The demonstration, hosted at CRC's Broadband Applications and Demonstration Laboratory (BADLAB(tm)), showcased AcceLight's PhotoniX 540 Switch (PXS 540), supported by its network management system, PhotoniX Core Manager (PXM) and its graphical user interface, WebClient. AcceLight demonstrated the PXS 540's network intelligence and interoperability with simple point-and-click provisioning across the CRC's installed IP and packet-based transport systems. This real-time network consolidation and simplification enabled by Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (G-MPLS) will drive down capital and operating expenses for service providers, allowing them to focus on future revenue streams. When fully deployed, AcceLight's network solution will simultaneously support TDM+Optical+Packet (TOP) switched services.
