REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- CoSine Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: COSN), a leading provider of managed, network-based IP Service Delivery Platforms for service providers, today announced Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Euronext Paris: EQU) has signed an agreement to purchase CoSine's IPSX 3500(TM) with the advanced IP Service Generator (IPSG) technology to support the company's growth in delivering network-centric managed services on a global basis. This agreement further increases Equant's ability to offer its multinational customers a suite of scaleable and cost-effective managed solutions. By deploying CoSine's equipment in North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim region, Equant will be able to provide access to its Virtual Private Network (VPN) services via broadband DSL in key countries where DSL is currently available. "We were looking for an intelligent carrier edge device that would allow us to leverage diverse access methods such as DSL, cable modems and others while moving customer premise functionality into the backbone for greater scalability and cost-efficiency. We concluded that CoSine's IPSX, with its IPSG technology, was clearly the platform best-suited to meet our requirements," said Jack Norris, Equant's Head of Customer Service and Network. "The CoSine IPSX was the clear choice for these service offerings because it provided the adaptability needed for dealing with all the variations of broadband access providers, while still providing superior support for and customization of multiple services. CoSine is clearly aligned with our view of the market's evolution toward a network-centric managed service." Equant CoSine Communications Inc.
