PMC-Sierra has established a new technology center in Bangalore, India

BANGALORE, India -- PMC-Sierra, Inc. (Nasdaq:PMCS - News), a leading provider of broadband communications and storage semiconductors, today announced it has established a new technology center in Bangalore, India. Mr. Arun Bellary has been appointed PMC-Sierra's Managing Director for India and will be responsible for overall operations and the development of this center.

"India is emerging as a leading technological center and we are planning to hire approximately 40 to 50 people in 2006 as we launch our operation," said Bob Bailey, PMC-Sierra's chairman and CEO. "Arun's knowledge of the regional industry combined with his extensive senior management and technology expertise will greatly assist us in growing PMC-Sierra's presence in this key technology hub."

Prior to joining PMC-Sierra, Mr. Bellary was founder of WiaX Systems Inc., a company focused on WiMAX broadband wireless access. Prior to WiaX, he was chairman and CEO of Metro-OptiX, which was based in India. Mr. Bellary's career has included senior executive positions at Ericsson and Pirelli Optical Products, and technical management positions at DSC Communications (Alcatel), Fujitsu and AT&T Bell Labs.

"We have an aggressive strategic plan to grow our operation in this market, which includes building a sales and marketing force in addition to technology engineers who will be a key part of PMC-Sierra's worldwide product development teams."
