Jio's competitive market, fast growth and expanding customer base present some interesting machine learning and analytics challenges for Guavus, its newly announced analytics partner.
Guavus and Reliance Jio ("Jio") are working together to help Jio analyze the massive amount of data created on its network. No financial details were disclosed, but this is a pretty big win for Guavus.
Jio said it generates 4 to 5 petabytes of data each day and it needs to analyze that -- or parts of it -- to help decide where to put cell towers, keeping customers happy and fixing set-top problems before they result in service calls, etc.
I briefly spoke with Raghuram Velega, Jio's VP of big data and analytics, about this partnership and how the carrier intends to use machine learning and analytics to scale, improve its service and keep up with rival operators.
