CLEC Chooses Alidian for Backbone

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- AEVIA, Inc., a new broadband telecommunications carrier whose metropolitan-area network begins operation this month, has chosen Alidian Networks' Optical Service Network family as its backbone technology because of the OSN products' ability to conserve costly fiber-optic bandwidth. The two companies have recently completed a month-long network trial. AEVIA is the first carrier to combine the functions of application service provider and competitive local exchange carrier (ASP-CLEC).
