OTTAWA -- Ceyba Inc., a provider of core optical networking solutions to carriers and service providers, today announced the appointment of Mr. Richard Liebhaber, an accomplished telecom industry veteran, to its Board of Directors. Liebhaber's wealth of experience leading telecom companies such as MCI and Qwest will provide Ceyba with invaluable insight into customer needs. Liebhaber's counsel will augment Ceyba's focus in developing solutions that reduce OPEX and boost network profitability, key concerns facing service providers and carriers today. Liebhaber's prestigious career reflects his deep understanding of service provider issues. He served for ten years as MCI's Executive Vice President where he engineered and maintained MCI's network and managed a number of ventures including the establishment of Concert, the joint venture between MCI and BT. Subsequently, Liebhaber helped formulate the Qwest Telecommunications Network model, introduced new business customer models, and, as a founder, also served on the Board of Qwest International from the company's inception in 1996 through January 31, 2000. Mr. Liebhaber is currently a member of the Board of Directors of an array of components and systems vendor companies, including Avici Systems Inc., ILOG Inc., JDS Uniphase, and ECI Communications. He is also on the Advisory Board of several venture capital concerns such as Greenwich Technology Partners and Polaris Venture Capital Partners. "Dick is a tremendous asset to our Board," said Scott Marshall, President and CEO of Ceyba Inc. "As a pioneer of the wholesale carrier business, Dick's viewpoint provides us with first-hand understanding of our customers. That knowledge, in addition to his ties to the high tech community - from carriers to component vendors - will serve Ceyba well as we forge ahead with design breakthroughs that help carriers realize optimal cost savings in their core network."
