UPC Norway Becomes Get

OSLO, Norway -- The digital-tv and broadband company UPC Norway changes its name to Get. At the same time, the company introduces a new logo and profile, and announces extensive roll-out plans for digital-tv.

− The name Get is simple and easy to remember. As a company we have a strong focus on making things easy for the customers. The speed of the digital development is now higher than ever. Get will offer customers exciting new solutions and services, but simultaneously let people choose for themselves which offers they wish to take advantage of, says Gunnar Evensen, CEO of Get.

Scandinavian Design Group has been responsible for developing the new name and visual identity of the new brand Get.

− Get develops advanced solutions and offers these to the customers in a simple way. This was an important guiding light when developing the visual identity. At the same time there is a potential in the name which presents many exciting possibilities, for example communications concepts like Get Sport and Get Connected, says Jens Bonesmo, Managing Director and Advisor in Scandinavian Design Group.

The new logo and profile are visible on all Get-buildings, cars and web pages from today. The company's web pages are now found on www.get.no

Digital-tv for all

Simultaneously with the launch of the new name, Get announced that 1 million Norwegian consumers will now get access to digital-tv. Within the next two months, these people will be able to order digital-tv from Get, and that way get more tv-channels, improved quality on sound and picture, as well as access to a number of new functions and services.

− The extensive digital-tv roll-out that we are now undertaking makes us capable of offering our customers new and exciting experiences within their own living room. The customer needs not buy a satellite dish nor other equipment, but orders and gets delivered a digital box from us, says Gunnar Evensen, CEO of Get.

In a separate release:

OSLO, Norway -- Get now gives 1 million Norwegian consumers access to digital-tv. This means that their customers will get more tv- and radio channels, improved sound- and picture quality, beside access to functions like electronic program guide and child filter.

The digital-tv and broadband company Get, earlier UPC Norway, will within November and December offer digital-tv to customers in Oslo, Østfold, Drammen, Kongsberg, Hønefoss, Eiker, Asker, Haugesund, Bergen and Kristiansand.* The customers need not take any actions except deciding which channels they wish to subscribe to, and order these from Get. The customer can then pick up the digital box at their local retailer, or, for a small charge, get it delivered at home.

− Get has a strong focus on providing the costumer with good experiences. Our customers will now get many new and exciting possibilities, and simultaneously we make it very easy for them to experience the digital world, says Gunnar Evensen, CEO of Get.

The customers choose for themselves which channels they wish to get access to. Get offers over 90 digital-tv channels, 20 analogue channels, and about 40 radio channels. The subscription price to digital-tv depends on which channels the customers want.

New products and services

In addition to a larger selection of channels and better sound- and picture quality, Get's customers will get access to several new digital products and services. This includes:

Electronic Program Guide

All customers get access to this service, which gives an overview of all upcoming tv-programs straight onto your tv-screen. The subscribers can get information regarding the programs one week up front, and besides, get notified when their favorite show begins.

Digital decoder with built-in hardware

This decoder has a built-in hardware, which makes it possible to record and store tv programs. In addition, the product has functions which allow the customers to stop a tv program, for then to start it up again when one wishes, and also provides automatic recording options. The decoder will be available before the end of this year

Focus on user friendliness

A new consumer survey published today, performed by Get in co-operation with Synovate MMI, shows a great interest among Norwegians for digital-tv and belonging functions and services. At the same time, most consumers have very limited knowledge about digital technology, and very low level of familiarity with many of the terms used frequently by the sector and the media.

− Get is focused on delivering exciting entertainment, communication and information to the home of "the man in the street", without the requirement that the customers have extensive technological insight. Digital-tv opens up to many new and advanced services, but this should not affect the user friendliness. All you need to do is to plug in, says Gunnar Evensen, CEO of Get.

All customers will get sent information on the digital-tv offer. Customers that want a digital-tv simply order their selected channel package and then receive a digital decoder from Get. The decoder is plugged directly into the normal tv outlet.
