PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Tut Systems, Inc., (Nasdaq: TUTS) today introduced its new 10Mbps line card for its Expresso family of products, a leading broadband solution for the MTU market.

Specifically designed and optimized for the MTU market, the Espresso 10Mbps line card uses Ethernet-over-VDSL (EoVDSL) to deliver data and video at 10Mbps over copper wires at distances of 4,000 feet. The line card is deployed through a simple plug-and-play process that integrates with the Expresso chassis and other products already deployed in the network such as Tut's LongRun 1Mbps line card, SDSL line cards and Tut's Expresso SMS/OCS subscriber management system -- the powerful broadband management system that allows transparent user connectivity, bandwidth management, advanced subscriber tracking, convenient billing and authentication options. The easy upgrade path of the 10Mbps line card ensures that service providers do not incur the expense of replacing existing Expresso systems and allows them to immediately begin deploying faster speeds and new services in their network.

The Expresso 10Mbps line card will allow service providers to offer new services to hotels, apartments and other private broadband network environments. In addition to voice and data offerings, the Expresso system supports two MPEG-2 streams and up to 2.5Mbps of data over a single copper pair of wires to enable advanced services such as Broadcast TV, IPTV and Video-on-Demand (VOD). By offering low bit-rate Broadcast TV and VOD, service providers can deliver highly popular services to their customers and garner new revenues from their existing networks.

Commented Greg Ioffe, Vice President and General Manager of Tut Systems's Private Broadband Networks division, "The new 10Mbps line card is great enhancement for the thousands of Expresso chassis already deployed around the world. Together with 1Mbps line card and our powerful subscriber management solution, Expresso provides a highly cost-effective, turn-key solution for high-speed data services in hotels and apartments."
