Telstrat Demos Video Over GPON

ORLANDO, Fla. -- TelStrat, an industry leader in Telecommunications access equipment, announced today that it plans to unveil the industry’s first hardened Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) solution at TelcoTV in Orlando, Florida this week.

On display at TelStrat’s booth will be the world’s first working GPON card designed for deployment in both Central Office and Outside Plant environments. The new card is designed as a standard plug-in module for TelStrat’s Inteleflex Broadband Loop Carrier Platform. GPON offers twice the download capacity and four times the upload capacity of competing BPON solutions, bolstering its appeal for fiber based video deployments.

In another first, TelStrat will simultaneously display live video over ADSL2+ and GPON cards from the same Inteleflex shelf, making it the first Broadband Loop Carrier platform to deliver video services over the latest generation copper and fiber access technologies. A single Inteleflex shelf can deliver identical IPTV services over any last mile technology through a simple provisioning choice.

The streaming video content on display at TelStrat’s booth will be fed from two different partner companies, Tut Systems and Minerva Networks. The video feeds display complete interoperability with multiple vendors’ equipment including headends, middleware and set-top boxes. The Inteleflex’s ability to simultaneously stream video from two different sources further highlights the ease with which video applications can be deployed on the platform.
