YAKUM, Israel -- Metalink Ltd. (NASDAQ: MTLK), a provider ofhigh-performance wireless and wireline broadband communication siliconsolutions, today announced that it will demonstrate its WLANPlus(tm)chipset, a technology based on the emerging 802.11n standard, with uniquecapabilities for wireless multimedia distribution, at The National Show(NCTA), in Atlanta, Ga. April 9-11 (www.thenationalshow.com), at booth#3452.

After having completed a series of successful demonstrations to customersand partners around the world, Metalink will be presenting WLANPlus at NCTA.The demonstrations will feature the delivery high-definition television(HDTV) over wireless LAN, at wire line quality.

Metalink's WLANPlus family consists of the company's MtW8170 baseband deviceand the MtW8150 radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC). A combination offeatures enables Metalink's WLANPlus family to deliver multiple HDTV streamsto any location within a radius of 100 feet, while maintaining full QoSperformance. Innovative packet-aggregation techniques boost media accesscontrol (MAC) efficiency with double the effective throughput of othersolutions. The inclusion of 2x3 real Multiple-In Multiple-Out (real MIMO)technology further improves throughput and QoS, and the use of sophisticatedchannel-bonding and antenna-loading techniques in the 5 GHz frequency bandprovide critical additional video-distribution performance.

The WLANPlus chipset also includes a full implementation of an integratedlower and upper MAC, reducing dramatically the required processing power andmemory allocation from the host application processor. This simplifies theintegration with consumer electronics devices and reduces the total productcost. Additionally, Advanced Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) forwarderror-correction (FEC) coding significantly boosts coverage range and signalrobustness as compared to previous approaches. The chipset also fullysupports 802.11i security features and the 802.11e QoS standard, both ofwhich are critical for high-priority voice and video services.
