Mediacom Picks FlexLight for GPON

FlexLight Networks supplies Mediacom with industry's first GPON fiber-to-the-building access equipment

ATLANTA and LONDON -- FlexLight Networks Inc., the leading provider of high speed Gigabit PON (GPON; ITU-T G.984) optical access network solutions, announced today it has signed an agreement with Mediacom to provide its OptimateSM GPON solution for use in provisioning Ethernet and voice services to Mediacom's customers. Mediacom is the 8th largest cable television company in the United States currently providing services to more than 1.5 million subscribers in 23 states. Mediacom is also the leading cable operator serving smaller cities and towns across the US.

Mediacom has deployed the Optimate solution to provide 100 Mbps transparent LAN services, 10Mbps+ Internet access services and TDM T1 voice transport services to its business customers.

Optimate is the first solution on the market which adheres to the International Telecommunications Union's (ITU) G.984 family of specifications for GPON technology. Optimate will provide Mediacom with the capabilities to drive data and voice services to its Enterprise Networks customers.
